National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.40% in July

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed 0.40% in July, standing 0.16 percentage points (p.p.) below the rate of June (0.56%). The cumulative index over the last 12 months was 2.66%, above the rate of 2.49% recorded in the 12 immediately previous months. The cumulative index in the year registered 1.97%. In July 2023, the index had been 0.23%.
The national cost of construction, per square meter, changed from R$1,748.99 in June to R$1,756.01 in July, of which R$1,009.31 were relative to material and R$746.70, to workforce.
Having changed 0.30%, the share of material registered a significant rise both in relation to the previous month (-0.05%) and in relation to the result of July 2023 (0.01%), 0.35 to 0.29 percentage points, respectively. This rate corresponded to the highest one reported since October 2022 in this segment.
Workforce (0.53%), with fewer collective agreements signed than in the previous one, recorded a decrease of 0.87 percentage points in relation to June (1.40%). The index remained stable compared with July 2023 (0.53%).
From January to July, the cumulative indexes were: 0.75% (material) and 3.65% (workforce). On the other hand, the cumulative indexes in 12 months stayed at 0.76% (material) and at 5.35% (workforce), respectively.
The Northeast Region reports the highest monthly change in July
The Northeast Region, with rises in all the states, reported the highest regional change in July (0.60%). The other regions showed the following results: 0.24% (North), 0.45% (Southeast), 0.09% (South) and 0.20% (Central-West).
Rio de Janeiro records the highest rise in July
With rises in the professional categories, Rio de Janeiro was the state with the highest rate in July (1.61%).
