In May, the National Index of Civil Construction changed 0.17%

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed 0.17% in May, falling 0.24 percentage points in relation to the April index (0.41%). The cumulative result in the last twelve months was 2.31%, below the 2.51% recorded in the previous twelve months. The index for May 2023 was 0.36%.

The national cost of construction, per square meter, which closed at R$1,736.37 in April, rose to R$1,739.26 in May, with R$1,006.80 relating to materials and R$732.46 to labor force.

The share of materials presented a negative index, -0.05%, being the lowest rate observed in the year. There is a drop of 0.16 percentage points compared to the previous month (0.11%). In relation to May 2023 (-0.24%), there was an increase of 0.19 percentage points.

Labor force, with a rate of 0.46%, despite the collective agreements signed, registered a drop both in relation to April (0.83%), and May of the previous year (1.24%), 0.37 and 0.78 percentage points, respectively.

From January to May (0.99%) the cumulative figures were: 0.50% (materials) and 1.68% (labor force). The cumulative figures in twelve months were 0.24% (materials) and 5.31% (labor), respectively.

North Region records highest monthly change in May

The North Region, with an increase in 4 of its 7 states, had the highest regional change in May, 0.34%. The other regions presented the following results: 0.30% (Northeast), 0.06% (Southeast), -0.03% (South) and 0.32% (Central-West).

In May, Acre records biggest increase

With an increase in the professional categories, Acre was the state with the highest rate in May, 2.16%, followed by Maranhão and the Federal District, 1.88% and 1.60%, under the same conditions.
