The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) was 0.44% in September, 0.14 percentage points below the August rate (0.58%) and the lowest rate since July 2020. The cumulative index in the last twelve months was for 13.11%, a result slightly below the 13.61% registered in the previous twelve-month period. The cumulative index in the year closed at 10.22%. In September 2021, the index had been 0.88%.

The national cost of construction, per square meter, which in August closed at R$1,661.85, rose in September to R$ 1,669.19, with R$ 999.96 relative to materials and R$ 669.23 to labor force.

The share of materials was 0.53%, a percentage lower than that of  the previous month (0.69%) and also that of September 2021 (1.21%), by 0.16 and 0.68 percentage points respectively. The September rate was the second lowest in 2022, above only the March index.

The share of labor force, with a rate of 0.31%, dropped 0.11 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.42%), with only one collective agreement identified in the period. Comparing with September of the previous year (0.40%), there was a decrease of 0.09 percentage points.

The cumulative figures for the year were: 9.89% (materials) and 10.73% (labor force). The cumulative results in twelve months were 13.99% (materials) and 11.80% (labor force), respectively.

South region has the highest monthly change

With a collective agreement signed in Santa Catarina and a rise in the share of materials in the three states, the South Region had the highest regional change in September, 0.95%.

The other Major Regions showed the following results: 0.52% (North), 0.42% (Northeast), 0.27% (Southeast), and 0.42% (Central-West).

Regional costs, per square meter, were: R$ 1,653.98 (North); R$ 1,556.52 (Northeast); R$ 1,737.19 (Southeast); R$ 1,745.74 (South) and R$ 1,683.10 (Central-West).

Santa Catarina boosted

With an increase in the share of materials, and salary increase for the professional categories, Santa Catarina was the state with the highest monthly change, 2.80%.
