Quarterly livestock surveys - first results: slaughter of chickens down and slaughter of cattle and of hogs up in Q2 2022

The first results of livestock production in Q2 2022 show that cattle slaughter increased 2.7%, slaughter of hogs and pigs increased 6.6% and that of chickens fell by 2.0% against the same period in 2021. From Q1 2022, cattle slaughter increased by 5.2%, slaughter of hogs and ogs did by 2.6% and that of chicken fell by 3.4%.

Acquisition of raw milk reached 5.39 billion liters, with a drop of 7.7% from Q2 2021 and a decrease of 8.6% against the immediately previous quarter.

Acquisition of rawhide by tanning houses fell 2.0% against the second quarter of 20121 and increased by 4.0% against the ommediately previous month, adding up to 7.41 million rawhide pieces.

In Q2 2022, the production of hen eggs amounts to 992.44 million dozen, which means a drop of 0.6% in relation to the same period in the previous year and an increase of 1.6% against Q1 2022.

Slaughter of cattle grows by 2.7% in the year and is 5.2% above the index of a quarter ago

In the Q2 2022, 7.32 million cattle head under some sort of sanitary inspection were slaughtered. That represents an increase of 2.7% from 2021 and of 5.2% against Q1 2022.

The production of 1.93 million tonnes of cattle carcasses in the second quarter of 2022 represented an increase of 2.3% in relation to the same quarter a year ago and an increase of 5.1% against Q1 2022.

Slaughter of hogs and pigs increases by 6.6% in the annual comparison and 2.6% in the quarter

A total of 14.00 million head of hogs and pigs were slaughtered in the second quarter of 2022, an increase of 6.6% from the same quarter a year agor and of 2.6% against Q1 2022.

The cumulative weight of carcasses was 1.30 million tonnes in the Q2 2022, consisting of increases of 6.0% compared with the second quarter of 2021 and of 4.5% in relation to the immediately previous quarter.

Chicken slaughter dropped 2.0% in the annual comparison and 3.4% in the quarter

In the second quarter of 2022, 1.49 billion chicken head were slaughtered. This figure represented a decrease of 2.0% against the previous quarter and a decrease of 3.4% compared with the Q1 2022.

The cumulative weight of carcasses was 3.63 million tonnes in the second quarter of 2022. That represented a drop of 0.6% against the immediately previous quarter and a decrease of 3,7% against the immediately previous quarter.

Acquisition of milk decreases 7.7% in the year and 8.6% in the quarter

In the 2nd quarter of 2022, the acquisition of raw milk by establishments under some kind of sanitary inspection was of 5.39 billion liters. The value corresponded to the reduction of 7.7% in comparison with the volume registered in Q2 2021 and to a decrease of 8.6% from the figure in the immediately previous quarter.

Acquisition of rawhide records decrease of 2.0% in the year, but rises 4.0% in the quarter

The tanneries investigated in the Quarterly Survey of Leather – those responsible for at least 5,000 whole pieces of cattle rawhide per year – reported to have received 7.41 million whole cattle rawhide pieces in the second quarter of 2022. This amount represented a decrease of 2.0% against the second quarter of 2021 and an increase of 4.0% from the immediately previous quarter.

Production oh hen eggs drops 0;6% in the year and increases 1.6% in the quarter

Production of hen eggs reached 992.44 million dozen in the second quarter of 2022. This result represented a drop of 0.6% from the same period a year ago mmquarter and an increase of 1.6% against the same quarter in Q1 2022.
