In March, the National Index of Civil Construction was 0.99%

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed by 0.99% in March, increasing 0.43 percentage points against the previous month's rate (0.56%). The result of the last twelve months went to 15.75%, below the 16.28% registered in the previous twelve months. In the year, the cumulative index was 2.29%. In March 2021, the index was 1.45%.

The national cost of construction, per square meter, was R$1,549.07 in March, R$927.28 of which were related to materials and R$621.79 to labor force. In February, it closed at R$ 1,533.96.

In March, the share of materials changed by 0.48%, registering a drop of 0.29 percentage points compared to the previous month (0.77%), that being the lowest index observed since July 2020. Considering the index of March 2021 (2.20%), there was a significant drop of 1.72 percentage points.

Labor force, in turn, with increases in some states, registered a rate of 1.75%, rising 1.52 percentage points in relation to February (0.23%). Comparing with March of the previous year (0.47%), there was an increase of 1.28 percentage points.

In the first quarter of 2022, the cumulative result closed at 1.89% (materials) and 2.87% (labor force). The cumulative indexes in twelve months were 21.21% (materials) and 8.46% (labor force), respectively.

Central-West registers the highest monthly change

The Central-West Region, with an increase observed in the share of materials in all states, and increases captured in Mato Grosso and Goiás, had the highest regional change in March, 1.69%. The other regions presented the following results: 0.96% (North), 0.82% (Northeast), 1.14% (Southeast), and 0.40% (South).

The regional costs, per square meter, were: R$ 1,551.07 (North); R$ 1,453.09 (Northeast); R$ 1,606.30 (Southeast); R$ 1,614.83 (South) and R$ 1,548.88 (Central-West).

Mato Grosso registers the biggest increase

With an increase in the share of materials, and salary rise observed in the professional categories, Mato Grosso, with 4.14%, was the state that presented the highest monthly change.

SINAPI, created in 1969, aims at producing information on costs and indices in a systematic way and with national coverage, in order to develop and assess budgets, as well as to monitor costs.
