The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed 0.56% in February. standing 0.16 percentage points (p.p.) below the rate of the first month of the year (0.72%). The cumulative index over the last 12 months was 16.28%, below the rate of 17.17% recorded in the 12 immediately previous months.

 In the year, the cumulative index was 1.28%. The index had been 1.33% in February 2021. 

The national cost of construction by square meter was R$1,533.96 in February, being R$922.86 relative to materials and R$611.10, to workforce. In January, it closed at R$1,525.48. 

In February, the share of materials changed 0.77%, a rise of 0.14 p.p. over the preceding month (0.63%). It dropped 1.58 p.p., considering the index of February 2021 (2.35%). 

On the other hand, workforce registered a rate of 0.23% and only one adjustment, dropping 0.54 p.p. in relation to January (0.87%). It recorded an increase of 0.21 p.p. compared with February last year (0.02%). 

In the first two months of 2022, the cumulative indexes were 1.40% (materials) and 1.10% (workforce). In the last 12 months. the cumulative indexes stayed at 23.29% (materials) and 7.10% (workforce).

North Region registers highest monthly change 

The North Region registered the highest regional change in February, due to the rise in the parcel of materials in five states and to the adjustment reported in Amapá: 0.74%. The other regions recorded the following figures: 0.56% (Northeast), 0.53% (Southeast), 0.53% (South) and 0.52% (Central-West). 

The regional costs. per square meter. were: R$1,536.33 (North); R$1,441.22 (Northeast); R$1,588.16 (Southeast); R$1,608.41 (South) and R$1,523.16 (Central-West). 

Amapá registered highest rise 

Having risen the parcel of materials and an adjustment in the professional categories, Amapá (4.91%) was the state that recorded the highest monthly change, followed by Sergipe (1.31%), influenced by the rise reported in the wages of professional categories in part of the sample of builders surveyed.
