In this comparison, it is worth mentioning that 2021 had the same number of business day as June 2020 (21 days). Of note is the fact that this month had high positive results mostly due to the low basis of comparison, for the same month a year ago was deeply influenced by the shutdowns in several industrial plants because of the social isolation measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the cumulative index of 2021 (January-June), against the same period a year ago, the national expansion (12.9%) reached 12 of the 15 places surveyed, with a highlight to Ceará (26.8%), Amazonas (26.6%) and Santa Catarina (26.1%).

Pará (3.1% to 0.2%) had the only loss. It is worth highlighting in those positive results the influence of the low basis of comparison, as in the second quarter of 2020 the sector recorded relevant losses not only for the national overall, but also for mot of the places surveyed.
