In July, the National Index of Civil Construction was 1.89%

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) was 1.89% in July, recording the third biggest change of 2021 and standing 0.53 percentage points below June’s rate (2.46%).

The rates increased in all regions, mostly in the Southeast (2.25%), due to the rise in the share of materials.

The cumulative index in the year was 13.49% and, in 12 months, 22.60%, above that of the previous 12 months (20.92%). In July 2020, the rate had been 0.49%..

The national cost of construction by square meter went from R$ 1,421.87 in June to R$ 1,448.78 in July, of which R$ 853.03 are related to materials and R$ 595.75 to labor force.


The share of materials increased 2.88%, a high of 0.52 percentage points comapred to the previous month (2.36%). Compared to July 2020 (0.48%), there was increase of 2.40 percentage points.


Conversely, the share of labor force with a rate of 0.52%, and less collective agreements executed, showed decrease of 2.08 percentage points compared to June’s index (2.60%). Compared to July 2020, there was increase of 0.02 percentage points (0.50%).


In the year, the cumulative highs were of 20.09% (materials) and 5.24% (labor force). In 12 months, the cumulative indexes reached 37.67% (materials) and 6.04% (labor force), respectively.

Southeast Region records greatest monthly change

With the rise of the share of materials in all its three states, the Southeast Region stood with the highest regional change of July, 2.25%.

The other regions had the following results: 1.29% (North), 1.56% (Northeast), 1.90% (South), and 1.98% (Central-West).

The regional costs by square meter were: R$ 1,400.82 (North), R$ 1,364.47 (Northeast), R$ 1,516.02 (Southeast), R$ 1,521.78 (South) and R$ 1,406.76 (Central-West).

Mato Grosso do Sul records biggest rise

With highs both in materials and in labor force, the state of Mato Grosso do Sul had the greatest monthly change, 3.58%, followed by Ceará (3.28%), under the impact of the high in materials and the collective bargaining.

Sinapi, created in 1969, aims at producing information of costs and indices in a systematized way and with national coverage in order to carry out and assess budgets, as well as to monitor costs.
