National Index of Civil Construction: 2.46% in June

The National Civil Construction Index (Sinapi) of June reached 2.46%, highest rate in the series that started in 2013. This result if 0.68 percentage points below the May rate (1.78%).

Rates represented an increase in all the Major Regions, especially in the South (3.80%), mainly due to the rise in Paraná (5.42%).

The cumulative index in the year was of 11.38% and, in the last 12 months, of 20.92%. The June index 2020 was 0.14%.

The national construction cost by square meter went from R$ 1,387.73 in May to R$ 1,421.87 in June, being R$ 829.19 relative to material and R$ 592.68 to workforce. Materials rose 2.36%, a change of 0.30 percentage points below that in the previous month (2.66%). As for June 2020 (0.17%), there was an increase of 2.19 percentage points.

Workforce rose 2.60%, with an increase of 2.02 percentage points from May (0.58%) and 2.50 percentage points against June a year ago (0.10%). This decrease refers to collective labor agreements in São Paulo, which recorded the highest rate in the year.

In the first semester, the cumulative increases were of 16.73% (material) and 4.70% (workforce). In 12 months, cumulative indexes hit 34.45% (material) and 6.02% (workforce).

South Region has biggest monthly change

With the rise of materials in all the states, and the collective labor agreement in Paraná, the South Region accounted for the main regional change in June, 3.80%.

The remaining Major Regions had the following results: 1.14% (North), 1.92% (Northeast), 2.83% (Southeast) and 1.96% (Central West).

Regional costs by square meter were: R$ 1,382.99 (North); R$ 1,343.47 (Northeast); R$ 1,482.71 (Southeast); R$ 1,493,.5 (South) and R$ 1,379.39 (Central West).

Paraná leads increases, with a change of 5,42%

Among the states, Paraná recorded the biggest monthly change, 5.42%, alsodue to the rise of materials and the collective labor agreement. It was followed by Mato Grosso do Sul (4.65%), Pernambuco (4.22%) and São Paulo (3.87%), also impacted by the rise of materials and of professional categories

SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and assess budgets as well as monitor costs.
