The IBGE launched the BDiAWeb portal on Wednesday, December 12, a platform to view and consult the IBGE´s Environmental Information Database - BDiA. The project aims at organizing, storing and sharing information on the vegetation, pedology (soil), geology and geomorphology themes. Access it on: www.bdiaweb.ibge.gov.br.
The BDiA gathers the set of thematic cartographic databases produced by the IBGE over the last 20 years, based on the fieldwork of the project of natural resources mapping, as well as the database of the RADAMBRASIL project, which surveyed the environment in the 1970s and 1980s.
This first version allows the consultation of the data in spatial divisions for the country, state and municipal levels. The platform also brings a dictionary of concepts, by which the users are able to know and understand the captions used in the interpretation of each theme.
The data will be updated on a 2-year basis and new features will be constantly implemented.
The BDiAWeb portal was built by a multidisciplinary team with a wide knowledge in the areas of data computing and geosciences. With this launching, the IBGE hopes to streamline the work of researchers, teachers, students and all the public that wants to know the Brazilian natural resources.
