August 03, 2018 10h00 AM | Last Updated: August 03, 2018 11h28 AM

The IBGE makes available today the results of the Input-Output Matrix for the year 2015, based on the National Accounts Supply and Use Tables, the results of which were published in November 2017. The material presents the model used by the IBGE on the calculation of the technical coefficients matrices for Brazil in 2015 and the procedures used to adapt the theoretical suggestions to the Brazilian reality. The full publication and tabular plan are to the right of this page.

The Input-Output Matrices are elaborated based on data from the National Accounts of Brazil. The construction of a matrix involves an initial stage of elaboration of the Table of Supply and Use, in which the data on intermediate and final supply and demand of the products are valued at consumer prices, that is, adding to the basic price the taxes and margins on products. A set of tables details the production and consumption operations, by activity, that generate the technical coefficient matrices.

The production of Input-Output Matrices by the IBGE began in the 1970s. From the 1990 matrix, two modifications were introduced in the procedures adopted for the calculation of the basic frameworks: the methodology hitherto based on the availability of censuses, was modified in such a way that these tables continued to be produced without census references; and the compilation of tables has been integrated into the System of National Accounts, which follows the recommendations of the international manual System of National Accounts 2008 (SNA 2008).
