Nearly 26 thousand temporary servants will be hired in more than 4 thousand municipalities. Data collection starts on October 1. The questionnaire was simplified to speed up the operation which will enumerate three agricultural establishments per day, on average, within five months. The IBGE is also going to create the National Sample Survey of Agricultural Establishments, which will be carried out annually.

On October 1 of 2017, the IBGE will start the operations of its 10th Census of Agriculture. Within five months, the enumerators are going to visit more than 5 million agricultural establishments all over the country, surveying information on area, output, characteristics of the employed persons, use of irrigation, pesticides, among other themes. The important role of family agriculture in the agricultural output of the country will be investigated once again. The results of Census of Agriculture 2017 must be disseminated by the IBGE in the second half of the year 2018.

The budget cut of the Census Agriculture 2017 surpassed 50%. In view of such contingency, the technical body of the IBGE had to make adjustments, as for example, to reduce the number of temporary hired servants: initially the forecast number was 82 thousand persons, but, then, it became 26 thousand. The collection of the Census of Agriculture, on its turn, projected to last 90 days, was extended to five months.

The cut in the budget had to be followed by a simplification in the questionnaire as it was initially conceived. The objective was to make it more dynamic, allowing for, on average, three agricultural establishments to be visited by enumerators each day. Such simplification was presented to society, resulting in new demands, which were incorporated to the questionnaire.

Country's agriculture to be accounted for in sample survey

The Census of Agriculture 2017 will give support to the implantation of the register of agricultural establishments and to the National System of Agricultural Surveys. That will allow for the creation of the National sample Survey of Agricultural Establishments, which will be conducted annually, to collect detailed data on the revenue and expenses in the rural output, credit and insurance, protection of springs, conservation of fauna and flora, use of pesticides, production techniques, besides the social and familiar situation of rural workers, among other themes.

AgriCensus 2017 will carry out two recruitment processes with 26,010 temporary job positions

In April, registration for both simplified recruitment processes will be open for temporary servants who will work in the Census of Agriculture 2017. Job opportunities adding up to 26,010 will be open, of which 171 suit higher education candidates in 18 different fields of knowledge. The others are destined to professionals who concluded secondary education. As a whole, there will be job opportunities for slightly more than 4 thousand municipalities in the country. See in the following table the preliminary distribution of jobs, by Federation Units. The ultimate numbers will be published in the calls of the two recruitment processes, whose publication is due on April 10 and 24 of 2017.
