* Seasonally-adjusted series

National industrial production showed a positive change of 0.1% compared to the immediately previous month in the series free of seasonal influences, with positive rates in eight out of 15 places surveyed. Goiás (6.5%), Mato Grosso (5.8%), Amazonas (4.1%) and Rio de Janeiro (4.1%) recorded the most pronounced advances, with the first one accumulating a gain of 11.6% in four consecutive months of growth in production; the second one marking the third positive result in a row and registering an increase of 8.1% in this period; the third one advancing 14.7% in the months of September and October 2025; and the last one offsetting part of the 6.0% loss seen in the August-September 2025 period. Bahia (2.7%), Minas Gerais (2.1%), Santa Catarina (0.6%) and Paraná (0.5%) completed the set of places with positive rates in October 2025.

On the other hand, Rio Grande do Sul (-5.7%) recorded the highest decline this month and interrupted three consecutive months of growth in production, a period in which it accumulated a gain of 10.8%. Espírito Santo (-1.7%), Pará (-1.4%), São Paulo (-1.2%), Pernambuco (-0.6%), Ceará (-0.3%) and the Northeast Region (-0.1%) also recorded negative results in October 2025.

 Still in the seasonally-adjusted series, the evolution of the quarterly moving average index for the overall industry showed a positive change of 0.1% in the quarter ended in October 2025 compared to the level of the previous month, after also advancing in September (0.1%) and August 2025 (0.2%), when it interrupted two consecutive months of decline: July (-0.2%) and June (-0.4%) 2025. In regional terms, still in relation to the marginal movement of this index, 11 out of 15 places surveyed showed positive results this month, with emphasis on the sharpest advances recorded in Goiás (3.4%), Mato Grosso (2.7%), Amazonas (1.6%), Minas Gerais (1.1%) and Espírito Santo (1.1%). On the other hand, Rio de Janeiro (-0.8%) recorded the highest decline in October 2025.

In the comparison with October 2024, the industrial sector showed a decline of 0.5% in October 2025, with six out of 18 places surveyed showing negative results. It is worth mentioning that October 2025 (23 days) had the same number of business days as the same month in the previous year (23). Mato Grosso do Sul (-17.8%) recorded a double-digit reduction and the most accentuated this month, mainly due to the negative behavior observed in the sectors of coke, petroleum products and biofuels (ethyl alcohol) and pulp, paper and paper products (pulp).

Rio Grande do Norte (-9.5%), Mato Grosso (-8.2%), São Paulo (-4.6%), Paraná (-4.1%) and Pará (-3.9) completed the group of places with a decline in production in the monthly index for October 2025. Maranhão, with a null change (0.0%) this month, repeated the production level recorded in October 2024. On the other hand, Espírito Santo (18.3%), Amazonas (12.5%) and Goiás (11.7%) registered double-digit advances and the highest ones in this month, driven, to a large extent, by the activities of mining and quarrying industries (crude petroleum oil, natural gas and pelleted or sintered iron ore), in the first place; of computer equipment, electronic and optical products (televisions and self-service banking terminals), other transportation equipment (motorcycles and their parts and accessories), coke, petroleum products and biofuels (motor gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas and fuel oils) and chemicals (insecticides for domestic and/or industrial use, polystyrene, colloidal precious metals and precious metal compounds and additives prepared for cement, mortar or concrete), in the second; and coke, petroleum products and biofuels (ethyl alcohol), food products (mayonnaise, frozen poultry and giblets, cakes, bagasses and bran from soybean oil extraction, crystallized sugar, frozen, fresh or chilled beef, refined and raw soybean oil, corn-based food or cornflakes, animal food and rice) and chemicals (hair preparations, super-phosphates, potassium chlorides and soaps or detergents – in bars or liquid), in the last one.

Rio de Janeiro (9.5%), Pernambuco (4.8%), Minas Gerais (2.9%), Northeast Region (2.1%), Rio Grande do Sul (1.8%), Bahia (1.2%), Santa Catarina (0.6%) and Ceará (0.4%) recorded the other positive results in the October 2025 monthly index.

In the comparison between the results of the second four-month period and the  September-October 2025 period, both comparisons against the same periods of the previous year, 15 out of 18 places surveyed showed a gain in dynamism, thus following the movement observed in the national total, which went from 0.4% to 0.8%. In regional terms, Rio Grande do Norte (from -14.4% to 4.1%), Amazonas (from -0.5% to 10.5%), Goiás (from 1.9% to 7.6%), Pernambuco (from 1.3% to 4.8%), Ceará (from -0.6% to 2.5%), Bahia (from -1.2% to 1.4%), Northeast Region (from 0.2% to 2.5%), Maranhão (from -5.0% to -3.1%), Mato Grosso do Sul (from -18.3% to -16.4%) and Rio Grande do Sul (from 4.2% to 6.1%) recorded the most pronounced advances, while Paraná (from -0.5% to -2.9%), Pará (from 1.4% to -0.1%) and Rio de Janeiro (from 7.7% to 6.9%) recorded losses between both periods.

In the cumulative index in the year, there was an expansion of 0.8%, with positive results in ten out of 18 places surveyed. Espírito Santo (8.6%), Rio de Janeiro (4.6%) and Pará (3.8%) recorded the most pronounced advances for the ten months of the year, driven, to a large extent, by the activities of mining and quarrying industries (crude petroleum oil, pelleted or sintered iron ore and natural gas), in the first place; mining and quarrying industries (crude petroleum oil and natural gas), in the second one; and mining and quarrying industries (manganese and copper ores – both crude or processed) and basic metals (carbon steel rebars), in the last one. Goiás (3.0%), Santa Catarina (2.8%), Rio Grande do Sul (2.3%), Amazonas (1.3%), Bahia (1.0%) and Paraná (0.9%) also recorded more intense positive rates than the national average (0.8%), while Minas Gerais (0.8%) completed the group of places with growth in production in the cumulative index in the year. On the other hand, Mato Grosso do Sul (-13.5%) and Rio Grande do Norte (-12.7%) recorded double-digit declines and the highest ones in the cumulative index for the January-October 2025 period, pressured mainly by the negative behavior coming from coke, petroleum products and biofuels (ethyl alcohol), in the former place; and coke, petroleum products and biofuels (diesel fuel and motor gasoline), in the latter. Mato Grosso (-7.2%), Maranhão (-5.5%), Pernambuco (-4.7%), São Paulo (-2.0%), Northeast Region (-0.6%) and Ceará (-0.4%) also showed negative results in the cumulative index for the ten months of the year.

In the cumulative index in 12 months, industrial production grew 0.9%, but continued to show a loss of pace compared to the indexes of previous months. In regional terms, 11 out of 18 places surveyed recorded positive rates in October 2025, but 12 showed less dynamism compared to last September's rates. Rio Grande do Norte (from -9.8% to -11.9%), Mato Grosso do Sul (from -10.1% to -12.2%), Mato Grosso (from -2.1% to -4.1%), Pará (from 6.5% to 4.9%), Paraná (from 2.5% to 1.2%), Santa Catarina (from 4.4% to 3.4%) and São Paulo (from -1.1% to -2.1%) marked the main losses between September and October 2025, while Espírito Santo (from 4.0% to 5.3%), Rio de Janeiro (from 1.3% to 2.6%), Goiás (from 1.3% to 2.2%) and Amazonas (from 2.0% to 2.9%) showed the steepest gains between the two periods.
