IBGE releases per capita household income and Coefficient of Regional Imbalance for 2023

The IBGE releases today the values of the per capita nominal monthly household income (PCHI) and the Coefficients of Regional Imbalance (CRI) related to 2023 for Brazil and three Major Regions: North, Northeast and Central-West, calculated based on the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNAD). This release addresses Decree no. 9,291, of 2018.

In 2023, the per capita nominal household income of the Central-West was R$2,264, above the national average (R$1,893), having the CRI equal to 1.00. The Northeast had an income of R$1,155 and a CRI of 0.61. The North had an income of R$1,314 and a CRI of 0.69.

The coefficients are calculated based on the values of regional income compared with the national average and the resident population ascertained by the Continuous PNAD.

Earnings from labor and other sources are taken into account in the calculation of the CRI. The values were obtained from gross earnings from labor and other sources, effectively earned in the reference month of the survey, accruing the information from the first interviews in the first, second, third and fourth quarters of the Continuous PNAD that comprise the year of 2023, as the result for this reference year.

According to Decree no. 9,291/2018, the coefficients will be applied on the calculation of the financial burden concerning on funding credit operations with resources from the Northeast Financing Fund (FNE), North Financing Fund (FNO) and Central-West Financing Fund (FCO).
