National Index of Civil Construction is 0.07% in March

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) was 0.07% in March, having dropped 0.08 percentage points against the February´s index (0.15%). The cumulative index in the last 12 months hit 2.36%, below the rate of 2.50% recorded in the immediately previous 12 months.  In March 2023, the index had been 0.20%.

The national cost of construction, per square meter, which in February closed at R$1,728.11, increased to R$1,1,729.25 in March, of which R$1,006.19 were relative to material, and R$723.06 referred to workforce. 

The share of material recorded a change of 0.13%, being 0.04 percentage points below the rate in the previous month.  The share of material had changed 0.17% in February. Considering the index in March 2023 (0.07%), it increased 0.06  percentage points in March 2024.

 Having changed -0.02%, the share of workforce dropped both in relation to February (0.13%) and to March last year (0.40%), 0.15 and 0.42 percentage points, respectively.

The cumulative indexes in the year were: 0.44% (material) and 0.38% (workforce). In the last 12 months, the cumulative indexes stood at 0.36% (material) and 5.30% (workforce).

North and Southeast Regions recorded the highest monthly changes in March

The North Region, with rises in six out of seven states, and the Southeast Region, with rises in Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, stood among the highest regional changes in March (0.13%). The remaining Major Regions recorded the following results: 0.11% (Northeast), -0.01% (South) and -0.27 (Central-West).

Rio Grande do Norte records the highest rise

With a rise in the professional categories, Rio Grande do Norte was the state with the highest rate in March (1.03%).
