The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed by 0.19% in January, having increased by 0.07 percentage points (p.p.) from December 2023 (0.26%). Against January 2023 (0.31%), the rate was 0.12 p.p lower. The cumulative index in the last 12 months was 2.43%, a result close to the 2.55% of the previous 12 months.

Having closed December at R$1,722.19, the national cost of construction per square meter changed to R$1,725.52, in February, being R$1,003.26 relative to materials and R$722.26 to workforce.

The share of materials changed by 0.14%, a drop of 0.13 percentage points in the beginning of the year against December last year (0.27%). Considering the index in January 2023 (-0.03%), there was an increase of 0.17 percentage points.

Workforce, with a rate of 0.27¨, in spite of the rise of minimum wage, was close to the figure in December last year (0.24%). The result dropped by 0.54 percentage points (0.81%) from January 2023.

The cumulative figure in the last twelve months stood at 0.23% for material and 5.65% for workforce.

North Region has highest monthly change in the first month of the year

The North Region, with increases in all the states, mainly in Tocantins (0.95%), accounted for the highest regional change in January, 0.60%. The remaining Major Regions recorded the following results: 0.49% (Northeast), -0.04% (Southeast), 0.07% (South) and 0.01% (Central-West).

Tocantins registers highest increase in January

With rises in material and in professional categories, Tocantins had the highest rate in the first month of the year: 0.95%.
