In September, National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.02%

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed 0.02% in September, having dropped 0.16 percentage points against the August´s index (0.18%). The cumulative index in the last 12 months was 2.68%, below the rate of 3.11% recorded over the immediately previous 12 months. In September 2022, the index had been 0.44%.
The national cost of construction, per square meter, which in August closed at R$1,713.52, rose to R$1,713.87 in September, being R$998.17 relative to material and R$715.70, to workforce.
The share of material dropped once again (-0.22%), standing 0.08 percentage points below the August´s rate (-0.14%). Considering the index in September 2022 (0.53%), it dropped 0.75 percentage points.
Workforce (0.36%), with fewer collective agreements signed in the month against the previous one, recorded a decrease of 0.28 percentage points in relation to the August´s index (0.64%). Compared with September 2022, it rose 0.05 percentage points (0.31%).
The third quarter of the year closed at: -0.31% (material) and 5.55% (workforce). The cumulative indexes in 12 months stood at -0.19% (material) and at 6.94% (workforce), respectively.
North Region registers highest monthly change in September
Having the share of material increased in five out of its seven states and a collective work agreement in Amazonas, the North Region recorded the highest regional change in September (0.49%). The remaining Major Regions recorded the following results: -0.09% (Northeast), -0.03% (Southeast), 0.05% (South) and 0.09% (Central-West).
Alagoas records the highest rise
With the adjustment in the professional categories and a rise in the share of material, Alagoas was the state that reported the highest rate in September (1.78%), followed by Amazonas (1.63%), also influenced by collective work agreements.
