The IBGE published in the Official Gazette this Thursday (31), the list of populations of the country's municipalities, according to the 2022 Census, with updates of their territorial borders. Check here, please. This publication complies with art. 102 of Law No. 8.443/92 and replaces the 2023 Population Estimates.

The list of populations in municipalities includes territorial updates reported to IBGE between August 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023, within the scope of technical cooperation agreements maintained with the bodies responsible for defining municipal borders.

In addition to the population of the country's 5,570 municipalities, the publication brings the total population of each of the 27 Federation Units and the five Major Regions. Along with these results, the IBGE also releases a methodological note (see here) regarding the changes that occurred between the first release of the results of the 2022 Population Census and the release of today's results, as well as the changes in territorial borders implemented between August 1st,  2022 and April 30, 2023.

The total population of the country released today had a positive change of just 0.008% compared to the results of the 2022 Census released earlier. The population results of 12.1% of the country's municipalities had some variation compared to the previous release, but 98.4% of these variations were less than 1.0%.
