The National Index of Civil construction (Sinapi) was 0.15% in November, 0.23 percentage points below the October’s rate (0.38%) and the lowest rate since July 2020.

The cumulative index in the last 12 months reached 11.38%, slightly below the rate of 12.41% recorded in the 12 immediately previous months. The cumulative index in the year closed at 10.81%. In November 2021, the index had been 1.07%.

The national cost of construction, per square meter, which closed at R$1,675.46 in October, changed to R$1,677.96 in November, being R$1,000.47 relative to material and R$677.49, to workforce.

The parcel of material changed 0.01%, maintaining the level of the previous month (0.04%) and the retraction movement of the last months. The November´s rate in the sector of construction material was the lowest one since January 2020. It dropped 1.65  percentage points in relation to November 2021 (1.66%).

On the other hand, the parcel of workforce changed 0.35%, with just one adjustment, falling 0.53  percentage points over the previous month (0.88%). It increased 0.17  percentage points against November last year (0.18%).

The cumulative indexes in the year were: 9.94% (material) and 12.09% (workforce). The cumulative index in 12 months stood at 10.78% (material) and at 12.26% (workforce), respectively.

Central-West Region records highest monthly change

The Central-West Region registered the highest regional change in November, 0.54%, influenced by the adjustment reported in the Federal District.

In the other regions the results were: 0.50% (North), 0.05% (Northeast), -0.01% (Southeast) and 0.33% (South).

The regional costs, per square meter, were: R$1,686.47 (North); R$1,561.13 (Northeast); R$1,736.53 (Southeast); R$1,756.20 (South) and R$1,719.10 (Central-West).

Highest rise was in Federal District

Despite the drop in the parcel of material, the Federal District was the Federation Unit with the highest monthly change, 1.97%, influenced by an adjustment established in a collective convention in the sector of workforce.

Sinapi, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and assess budgets as well as monitor costs.
