Quarterly livestock surveys - first results: slaughter of cattle, chickens and hogs and pigs up in Q3 2022

The first results of livestock production in Q3 2022 show that cattle slaughter increased 11.2%; slaughter of hogs and pigs increased 4.4% and that of chickens, by 0.9% against the same period in 2021. From Q2 2022, cattle slaughter increased by 5.8%, slaughter of hogs and pigs, by 2.1% and that of chickens, by 3.1%.

Acquisition of milk reached 6.0 billion liters, with a drop of 3.4% from Q3 2021 and an increase of 11.1% against the immediately previous quarter.

JAcquisition of rawhide by tanneries grew by 5.4% against the third quarter of 20121 and increased by the same rate against the immediately previous month, adding up to 7.89 million rawhide pieces.

In Q3 2022, the production of hen eggs amounted to 1,01 billion dozen, which means a drop of 0.2% from on to the same period in the previous year and an increase of 1.4% against Q2 2022.

Slaughter of cattle grows by 11.2% in the year and is 5.8% above the index of a quarter ago

In the Q3 2022, 7.81 million cattle head under some sort of sanitary inspection were slaughtered. That represents an increase of 11.2% against Q3 2021 and an increase of 5.8% in relation to Q2 2022.

The production of 2.12 million tonnes of cattle carcass in Q3 2022 represented an increase of 11.1% in relation to the same quarter a year ago and an inrease of 9.2% against Q2 2022.

Slaughter of hogs and pigs grows 4.4% in the annual comparison and 2.1% in the quarter

A total of 14.37 million head of hogs and pigs were slaughtered in the 3rd quarter of 2022, representing an increase of 4.4% from the same quarter a year agor and an increae of 2.1% against Q2 2022. .

The cumulative weight of carcasses was 1.30 million tonnes in the Q3 2022, having increased by 3.8% in relation to Q3 2021 and an increment of 1.4% against the previous quarter.

Chicken slaughter increased by 0.9% and 3.1% in the annual and quarterly comparison, respectively

In the third quarter of 2022, 1.55 billion chicken head were slaughtered. This figure represented an increase of 0.9% against the previous quarter and an increase of 3.1% from Q2 2022.

The cumulative weight of carcasses was 3.73 million tonnes in the third quarter of 2022. That represented a drop of 2.2% both against Q3 2021 and the immediately previous quarter.

Acquisition of milk decreases 3.4% in the year and increases 11.1% in the quarter  

Acquisition of raw milk by establishments under some kind of sanitary inspection in Q3 2022 was of 6.0 billion liters. The figure corresponded to the reduction of 3.4% in comparison with the volume registered in Q3 2021 and to an increase of 11.1% from the immediately previous quarter.

Acquisition of rawhide increase in the year and in the quarter, by 5.4%

The tanneries investigated in the Quarterly Survey of Leather – those responsible for at least 5,000 whole pieces of cattle rawhide per year – reported to have received 7.89 million whole cattle rawhide pieces in the third quarter of 2022. This amount represented an increase of 5.4% against the third quarter of 2021 and also against the immediately previous quarter.

Production of hen eggs drops 0.2% in the year and increases 1.4% in the quarter

Production of hen eggs reached 1,01 billion dozen in the 3rd quarter of 2022. This result represented a drop of 0.2% from the same period a year ago and an increase of 1.4% against Q2 2022.
