In January, National Index of Civil Construction was 0.72%

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) was 0.72% in January - 0.20  percentage points above the December 2021 rate (0.52%) and the second lowest rate since August 2020.

The cumulative index over the last 12 months was 17.17%, below the rate of 18.65% recorded over the 12 months prior to that period. In January, the index was 1.99%.

Having closed at R$ 1,514.52 in January, the national cost of construction per square meter changed to R$ 1,525.48 in January, of which R$ 915,79 were relative to materials and R$ 609.69 to workforce.

The share of materials increased 0.63%, a 0.13 pp drop over December 2021 (0.76%). Compared to January 2021 (2.96%), the decrease is more significant, 2.33 pp.

The share relative to workforce, with a 0.87% rate and collective agreement above the increase of the national minimum wages, advances 0.72 pp in relation to December 2021 (0.15%). Against January last year (0.78%), the decrease is of 0.99 pp.

In 12 months, the cumulative indices stood at 25.22% (materials) and 6.87% (workforce).

North Region has the highest monthly change

With highs in the share of materials in all states and a=increases in the professional categories, the North Region stood with the highest regional change in January: 1.24%.

The other regions recorded the following figures: 1.05% (Northeast), 0.48% (Southeast), 0.32% (South) and 0.79% (Central-West).

The regional costs, per square meter, were: R$ 1.525,10 (North); R$ 1.433,20 (Northeast); R$ 1.579,80 (Southeast); R$ 1.599,93 (South) and R$ 1.515,22 (Central-West).

Highest increase of the month took place in Alagoas

With a high in the material share and collective agreement executed in the professional categories, Alagoas, with 4.30%, was the state with the highest monthly change, followed by Tocantins and Piauí, with 4.14% and 3.34%, respectively.

Sinapi, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and assess budgets as well as monitor costs.
