* Seasonally-Adjusted Series

With the 2.6% increase in industrial activity, from August to September 2020, in the seasonally adjusted series, there were positive results in 11 of the 15 surveyed places, reflecting the expansion of production reopening, after the lockdowns due to COVID-19

Paraná (7.7%) had the sharpest expansion, its fifth consecutive positive rate, accumulating a gain of 46.2% in this period. Amazonas (5.8%), São Paulo (5.0%), Espírito Santo (5.0%), Rio Grande do Sul (4.5%), Santa Catarina (4.5%) and Bahia (4, 0%) also showed advances above the national average.

The reduction in loss intensity in the total industrial production from the second (-19.4%) to the third quarter of 2020 (-0.6%) was explained by the pace gain in 14 of the 15 surveyed places, with a highlight to Ceará (from -42.4% to 5.6%), Amazonas (from -39.0% to 6.8%), Northeast Region (from -23.6% to 2.2%), Pernambuco ( from -13.4% to 11.5%), Santa Catarina (from -24.3% to 0.4%), Rio Grande do Sul (from -25.0% to -0.6%) and São Paulo (from -24.0% to -1.3%).
