The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed 0.88% in August, an increase of 0.39 percentage points in relation to July (0.49%). In August 2019, the index was 0.44%. Sinapi accumulated an increase of 3.78% in the last 12 months, surpassing the 3.33% of the previous 12 months. In the year, the cumulative index was 2.86%%.

The national cost of construction, per square meter, which closed at R$1,181.41 in July, increased to R$1,191.84 in August, of which R$629.52 related to materials and R$562.32 to workforce.

The share of materials, with a significant increase in the cement segment, rose 1.60%, registering an increase both in relation to July (0.48%) and to August 2019 (0.72%). Workforce, on the other hand, changed 0.09%, decreasing 0.41 percentage points in relation to July (0.50%) and 0.04 percentage points compared to the rate of August 2019 (0.13%).

The cumulative indexes in the year were 3.94% (materials) and 1.65% (workforce), and in twelve months, 4.52% (materials) and 2.89% (workforce).

Northeast Region registers hihgest monthly change

The Northeast Region, due to the increase in the share of materials in all states and the collective agreement in Pernambuco, had the greatest regional change in August (1.17%). The other regions presented the following results: 0.89% (North), 0.72, (Southeast), 0.76% (South) and 0.87% (Central-West).

Regional costs, per square meter, were: R$1,199.40 (North); R$1,109.75 (Northeast); R$1,241.92 (Southeast); R$1,241.81 (South) and R$1,189.95 (Central-West).

Amazonas is the state with the highest increase

With highs in the share of materials, Amazonas was the state that presented the biggest monthly change (1.69%), followed by Sergipe and Ceará, 1.54% and 1.50% respectively, also with an increase in materials.
