The National Index of Civil Construction - Sinapi changed 0.25% in February, standing 0.05 percentage points below the rate of the previous month (0.30%) and 0.04 percentage points above the February 2019 index (0.21%). It accrues 0.55% in the year. Concerning the last 12 months, the rate stayed at 3.95%, close to the rate of 3.91% registered in the 12 immediately previous months.

Having closed at R$1,162.24 in January, the national cost of construction per square meter changed to R$1,165.13 in February, being R$612.61 relative to materials and R$552.52 to workforce.

The parcel of materials changed 0.53%, dropping both in relation to the previous month (0.62%) and in relation to February 2019 (0.55%), 0.09 and 0.02 percentage points, respectively.

On the other hand, the value of workforce changed -0.06%, recording the same rate reported in January. Having registered -0.15%, the drop was less significant than in February 2019.

The cumulative figures in the first two months of 2020 were 1.15% (materials) and -0.12% (workforce) and, in 12 months, they stayed at 4.97% (materials) and 2.80% (workforce).

Northeast Region registers the highest change this month

Having risen in the nine states that comprise it, the Northeast Region registered the highest regional change in February (0.36%). The other regions recorded the following figures: 0.03% (North), 0.25% (Southeast), 0.16% (South) and 0.23% (Central-West).

The regional costs per square meter were R$1,176.06 in the North, R$1,076.40 in the Northeast, R$1,213.94 in the Southeast, R$1,225.25 in the South and R$1,173.73 in the Central-West.

Having registered 0.57% in the parcel of materials, Bahia recorded the highest monthly change.
