National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.22% in December, closes 2019 at 4.03%

The National Index of Civil Construction - Sinapi changed 0.22% in December, the same rate registered in December 2018, and 0.11 percentage points (p.p.) above the November´s rate (0.11%). As a result, the index closed 2019 at 4.03%, standing 0.38 percentage points below the 2018 rate (4.41%). The index had been 4.41% in December 2018.

The national cost of construction, per square meter, which in November closed at R$1,156.31, increased to R$1,158.81, of which R$605.54 were relative to material, and R$553.17 referred to labor force.

The parcel of material dropped 0.13%, showing a difference of 0.30 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.17%). When compared with December 2018, it changed 0.45%, a drop of 0.58 percentage points.

The value of labor force increased (0.59%), influenced by the rises reported in the states of Piauí and Minas Gerais, due to collective work agreements. This rate was quite higher when compared with the result of December 2018 (-0.02%), when it was close to stability.

The cumulative result in 2019 rose 4.54% in material, whereas the parcel of the cost related to the expenses with labor force hit 3.47%. In 2018, the parcel of material closed at 6.30% and labor force, at 2.45%.

Southeast registers the highest monthly change and South, the highest rise in the cumulative rate in the year

The rise in the parcel of labor force in Minas Gerais, due to a collective work agreement, led the Southeast to show the highest regional change in December: 0.31%. The Northeast (0.20%), Central-West (0.19%), North (0.17%) and South (0.02%) also rose. However, the South recorded the highest rate in the cumulative index in the year (5.64%), followed by the Southeast (4.39%). As for the costs of construction, the regions recorded the following values by square meter in December:  R$1,169.45 (North); R$1,067.68 (Northeast); R$1,208.86 (Southeast); R$1,222.66 (South) and R$1,165.74 (Central-West). Among the states, Piauí registered the highest rate for the last month of the year (1.11%), influenced by the rise of 3.86% of the parcel of labor force, also due to collective work agreements.
