The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed 0.68% in July, 0.33 percentage points above the previous month (0.35%). In July 2018, the index stood at 0.52%. The cumulative index in 12 months was 4.42%, compared to 4.25% in the preceding twelve months. The cumulative index of the year was 2.66%. Check the support material for further information.

The national cost of construction, per square meter, which in June closed at R$1.135,88, rose in July to R$1.143,65, with R$597,92 relating to materials and R$545,73 to labor force. 

The share of materials changed 0.47%, remaining practically stable compared to the previous month (0.45%). Compared to July of the previous year (0.88%), there was a drop of 0.41 percentage points (pp).

The labor force rate, with a change of 0.92%, had a significant increase compared to June 2019 (0.24%) and July of the previous year (0.13%).

From January to July, the cumulative indexes were 3.21% (materials) and 2.08% (labor force). In 12 months, the cumulative indexes were 6.08% (materials) and 2.68% (labor force).

South Region records the highest monthly change 

In July, the South Region had the largest change (1.22%), with high material costs in all states and collective bargaining in the state of Paraná. The other regions registered: 0.20% (North), 0.16% (Northeast), 1.13% (Southeast) and 0.17% (Central-West).

The regional costs per square meter were: R$1,146.07 (North); R$1,060.26 (Northeast); R$1,196.52 (Southeast); R$1,197.14 (South) and R$1,134.91 (Central-West).

Rondônia boosts

With the higher costs for professional categories due to increases provided for in collective agreements, Rondônia (2.64%) was the state with the largest monthly change, followed by Paraná (2.54%), São Paulo (1.64%) and Alagoas (1.26%).
