The IBGE puts out today the list of the 280 Brazilian municipaities facing the sea. The digital files of this publication can be accessed here.

The regular updating of this table of municipalities by the IBGE is determined by Decree 5.300/2004. In 2018, 17 Federation Units and 280 municipalities facing the sea were identified.

The work results from geospatial operations between the updated  coast line and the municipal borders of the political-administrative division of the country. Together, they constitute the Municipal Mesh of Brazil.

In addition to the list of coastal municipalities, this survey presents the coordinates of the respective municipal offices and also the territorial area of each of the municipalities. The excel file with this information can be found on the right of this page.
