The IBGE releases today the List of Establishments of the Census of Agriculture, including more than 5 million addresses obtained from the data collection and edit of the rural properties in the whole country, carried out by enumerators in the 2017 Census of Agriculture.

This product, which is part of the National Address List for Statistical Purposes - CNEFE, helps to understand the reality of the agricultural activity in Brazil. The list can be accessed here.

In the 2017 Census of Agriculture, all the addresses of the establishments that developed agricultural activities by the time of the interview were collected. To update the List, the enumerators used as reference a previous list of the establishments surveyed in the 2006 Census of Agriculture, as well as of others captured during the 2010 Population Census.

During the Census of Agriculture, the enumerators covered the total area of the enumeration areas, pinpointing potential establishments to be included. The result of this activity is a list with the textual record of the addresses collected and the distribution of the establishments in the national territory, obtained from the collection of coordinates.

The List can be the input to establish samples for futures agricultural surveys carried out by the IBGE. The record data also help in the analysis of the spatial distribution of the properties, revealing patterns of territorial organization and ways of registering addresses in the rural areas, as well as their regional particularities. By subsidizing studies that use the address as the primary unit of analysis, such information helps to understand the reality of the agricultural activity in Brazil.

Aiming at preserving the statistical confidentiality, some punctual adaptions in the way of registering CNEFE addresses were required like, for instance, omitting the name of the producer or of their establishment, as explained in the Technical Note made available to users.
