National Index of Civil Construction changes by 0.16% in September

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), estimated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, registered a change of 0.16% in September, 0.36 percentage points below August's rate (0.52%). Considering the period from January to September, the result was of 4.98%. The result of the last 12 months was of 6.82%, below the 7.22% recorded in the 12 months prior to that period. These cumulative results reflect the exemption in the payroll of the enterprises of the civil construction sector, according to law no 12,844, enacted on July 19, 2013. When the exemption was not taken into account, the cumulative index in the year stood at 5.06% and, in the last 12 months, at 6.89%. From January to September this year, the cumulative indexes of material and labor force were 3.93% and 6.27%, respectively. In 12 months, the cumulative indexes were 5.74% (materials) and 8.12% (labor force).
The national cost of construction per square meter, which in August closed at R$ 901.50, in September, changed to R$ 902.94: out of which R$ 493.00 were relative to materials and R$ 409.94 to labor force.
The share of materials registered a change of 0.20%, contracting 0.08 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.28%); while labor force, with a change of 0.11%, fell 0.69 percentage points in relation to August (0.80%). From January to September this year, the cumulative indexes were 3.99% (materials) and 6.20% (labor force), while, in 12 months, they were 5.85% (materials) and 8.01% (labor force).
South Region records the highest change
The South Region, with 0.26%, registered the highest change in September. The other results were: 0.06% (North), 0.20% (Northeast), 0.14% (Southeast) and 0.08% (Central-West).
The costs by area, per square meter, were: R$ 906.72 (North); R$ 838.59 (Northeast), R$ 944.96 (Southeast); R$ 918.33 (South) and R$ 924.26 (Central-West).
Santa Catarina boosts
Santa Catarina and Paraíba, with 0.93% and 0.75%, respectively, were the states with the biggest highs in September. Amazonas presented the sharpest drop (-0.30%).
These results are monthly estimated by IBGE through a partnership with CAIXA – Caixa Econômica Federal, based on SINAPI – National Survey of Costs and Index of Civil Construction.
SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and evaluate budgets as well as monitor costs.
