Soybean stock exceeds 20 million tonnes in the first semester of 2013

The stocking network of agricultural products in operation in Brazil recorded a decrease of 0.1% in the number of active establishments, compared with the second semester of 2012.  On June 30, 2013 this network comprised 9,216 active establishments, of which 4,153 were in the South Region, 2,018 in the Central-West, 2,011 in the Southeast, 720 in the Northeast and 314 in the North Region.  By reaching 20.6 million tonnes, soybeans was the product with the largest stock in the period, 8.1% more than that registered in the first semester of 2012.

Carrying capacity drops in two types of warehouses, rises in silos

When compared with the second semester of 2012, the installed carrying capacity dropped 1.5% in the conventional, structural and inflatable warehouses and 0.2% in the automated and bulk warehouses. The silos increased by 3.3%.

In this period, the stocking units of the type conventional, structural and inflatable warehouses added up to 69,393,662 cubic meters. Of this total, slightly more than 70.0% of them were concentrated in the Southeast and South Regions. The automated and bulk warehouses added up to 57,809,229 tonnes of carrying capacity. The Central-West Region accounted for 49.4% of this capacity and the South accounted for 32.7%. Grain silos accounted for 60,396,505 tonnes of the total carrying capacity in Brazil. The South Region covered 56.1% of this total and the Central-West and Southeast Regions, 24.9% and 13.3%, respectively.

Soybeans and coffee stocks rise, rice, corn and wheat drop in relation to June 30, 2012

The largest stocks recorded on June 30, 2013 were of soybean grain (20,573,324 tonnes), corn grain (8,607,169 tonnes), paddy rice (5,045,055 tonnes), wheat grain (1,736,729 tonnes) and coffee grain (863,908 tonnes). When compared with the stocks on June 30, 2012, the soybean grain and coffee grain stocks increased 8.1% and 14.8%, whereas paddy rice, corn grain and wheat grain stocks dropped 5.3%, 6.9% and 36.8%, respectively.
