National Civil Construction Index changes by 0.59% in January

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), estimated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, started 2012 with a change of 0.59%, advancing 0.47 percentage points in relation to December 2011 (0.12%). Compared with January 2011 (0.27%), the difference was of 0.32 percentage points. The result of the last 12 months was of 5.98%, above the 5.65% recorded in the immediately previous 12 months.

The national cost of construction per square meter, which was R$ 809.65 in December, changed to R$ 814.43 in January, with R$ 445.78 relative to materials and R$ 368.65 to labor force. 

 

The share of materials registered a change of -0.13%, contracting 0.35 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.22%), while labor force registered acceleration, changing 1.47% in January 2012 and zero in December 2011. The accumulated figures in 12 months were: 10.99% (labor force) and 2.18% (materials).

 

Southeast Region records an increase of 1.12%

 

Affected by the salary increases in Minas Gerais, the Southeast region, with a high of 1.12%, recorded the highest regional rate in January. The other results were: 0.86% (North); 0.20% (Northeast); 0.06% (Central-West) and 0.05% (South). The regional costs, per square meter, were: R$ 852.39 (Southeast); R$ 826.61 (North); R$ 814.81 (Central-West); R$ 804.07 (South) and R$ 769.19 (Northeast).

 

Rondônia, Amapá and Minas Gerais registered the highest rises

 

Due to the salary increases following collective work agreements, Rondônia, Amapá and Minas Gerais registered the highest monthly rates, respectively, 5.38%, 5.14% and 3.43%.
