The National Index of Civil Construction changed 0.12% in December and closed 2011 with a high of 5.65%

 The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), estimated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, recorded a change of 0.12% in December, a reduction of 0.25 percentage points in relation to November (0.37%) and contraction of 0.14 percentage points in relation to December of 2010 (0.26%).  2011 closed with a high of 5.65%, above 2010, when the accumulated index reached 7.36%.

The accumulated indices registered a reduction from 2010 to 2011, except for the South region, contrary to the period from 2009 to 2010, when all indicators showed acceleration. Among the regions, the most substantial deceleration in the accumulated rate was registered in the North region, with -3.32 p.p. 

Federal District registers the highest increase in the accumulated index of the year (9.35%)

 

Amapá saw the highest monthly rise (1.04%) and Pará registered the lowest rate (-0.02%), followed closely by Acre (-0.01%). Rio Grande do Norte and Mato Grosso were unchanged (0.0%), whereas Amazonas, Roraima, Piauí, Paraíba and Espírito Santo were virtually stable, with 0.01%. In the accumulated indicator in 12 months, the Federal District stood out, with 9.35%, followed by Maranhão, with 9.33%. The lowest annual change was registered by Minas Gerais (1.28%). 

The national cost of construction per square meter, which in November closed at R$ 808.65, changed to R$ 809.65 in December, R$ 446.35 relative to materials and R$ 363.30 to labor force. 

The share relative to labor force remained unchanged (0.0%), with a deceleration of 0.82 percentage points in relation to the previous month. Conversely, the share of materials recorded a difference of 0.21 percentage points, coming from 0.01% in November to 0.22% in December.

In the year, materials registered an accumulated change of 2.64%, corresponding to a reduction of 2.6 percentage points, in relation to the accumulated indicator of 2010 (5.24%).  Conversely, the share of labor force rose 9.60%, below the accumulated index of 2010 (10.24%) in 0.64 percentage points.

South region stands out in December and Central-West closes 2011 with the highest accumulated indicator  

In December, the South region stood out with the highest increase in cost, 0.18%. Central-West recorded an accumulated change of 8.06% in the year. In relation to the regional accumulated indices of 2011, Central-West (8.06%) had the highest result. The other changes were: 6.96% (South), 6.13% (Northeast), 5.52% (North) and 4.35% (Southeast). As for the costs of construction, the regions recorded the following values by square meter: R$ 842.91 (Southeast); R$ 819.54 (North); R$ 814.29 (Central-West); R$ 803.68 (South) and R$ 767.69 (Northeast).
