National Index of Civil Construction changes by 0.38% in October

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), calculated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, recorded a change of 0.38% in October, advancing 0.19 percentage points in relation to September (0.19%).

Compared with October 2010 (0.51%), the difference was of 0.13 percentage points. Considering the period from January to October 2011, the rate of 5.13% is below that of the same period of 2010, when it was 6.34%. The result of the last 12 months was of 6.13%, below the 6.26% registered in the immediately previous 12 months.

The national cost of construction per square meter changed from R$ 802.66 in September to R$ 805.67 in October, being R$ 445.31 relative to materials and R$ 360.36 to labor force.

The share relative to labor force registered a change of 0.40%, 0.15 percentage points higher than that in the previous month (0.25%).

Conversely, the share of materials registered a difference of 0.21 percentage points, coming from 0.15% in September to 0.36% in October. In the year, labor force rose by 8.71%, whereas materials registered 2.40%. The accumulated indexes in 12 months were: 9.80% (labor force) and 3.35% (materials).

North region registers the highest monthly change

Pressed by the salary raises in Pará and Roraima, the North region showed the highest change, a rise of 1.96%.

The other regions registered the following results: 0.52% (Central-West); 0.26% (South); 0.26% (Northeast) and 0.11% (Southeast).

The regional costs, per square meter, were: R$ 842.01(Southeast); R$ 818.08 (North); R$ 807.11 (Central-West); R$ 801.76 (South) and R$ 759.41(Northeast).

As for the accumulated indexes, the Central-West region stood out with the highest change in the year, 7.11%, as well as the highest change in the last 12 months, 7.62%.

Pará registers the highest increase

Due to the pressure from salary raises following a collective wage agreement, Pará registered the highest monthly rate: 4.12%.
