The Brazilian industrial production increased in seven of the 14 surveyed places between October and November 2010. The highlight was the two-digit increase in Paraná (11.5%), compensating the 9.6% decrease observed in the previous month, followed by Amazonas (8.8%), Rio Grande do Sul (8.3%), Rio de Janeiro (5.5%), Pará (5.1%), Santa Catarina (2.3%) and São Paulo (1.4%). Bahia (-8.1%) recorded the most expressive decrease, influenced by the technical interruption in industrial plants of chemical products. The other places with negative results were the Northeast region (-5.8%), Espírito Santo (-3.1%), Goiás (-2.8%), Minas Gerais (-2.5%), Pernambuco (-2.2%) and Ceará (-0.1%).

Compared to figures in November 2009, the industrial production increased in 11 of the 14 areas surveyed. Figures above the national average (5.3%) came from Pará (15.1%), Paraná (13.6%), Rio de Janeiro (10.1%), Espírito Santo (9.8%), Amazonas (7.3%), Rio Grande do Sul (7.0%) e Minas Gerais (5.9%). Other positive results were those of São Paulo (5.2%), Goiás (4.8%), Santa Catarina (2.7%) and Pernambuco (1.6%). The three areas facing production decrease were the Northeast Region (-2.1%), Bahia (-2.6%) and Ceará (-4.8%).

Considering the indicator accumulated in eleven months in 2010, there has been production increase in the fourteen areas surveyed. The leadership of regional performance according to this index, in terms of level of increase, remained with com Espírito Santo (24.9%), followed by Amazonas (16.9%), Goiás (16.8%), Minas Gerais (15.8%), Paraná (15.6%) and Pernambuco (11.2%), all of which recorded expansion above the national average (11.1%). São Paulo, the most important area in all the national structure, recorded increase of 10.9% of the index accumulated in the year. These areas have followed the same pattern of increase as in national industry throughout 2010, since the productive structure in these states is strongly affected by the existence of producers of capital goods  (especially those related to the sub-sectors of transportation, construction, agriculture and industrial use) and of durable consumer goods (automobiles and household appliances, mainly those of the brown type), besides the sub-sectors which are characterized by their exporting activities, of commodities (iron ore), mainly. Other figures were those of Ceará (10.8%), Northeast Region (9.6%), Bahia and Pará (both with 9.0%), Rio de Janeiro (8.8%), Rio Grande do Sul (7.5%) and Santa Catarina (6.6%).
