IBGE opened a selection process for 2,006 more enumerators for the 2010 Census in the following states: Goiás, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and São Paulo. In order to participate in the process, it is necessary to be over 18 on the date of the contract, have concluded the elementary school, be Brazilian or, if holding Portuguese citizenship, be protected by the Statute of Equality. There are other requirements (details in the competitive examination announcement), published in today’s edition of the Union’s Official Journal and available in IBGE site (

site do IBGE.). Applications will be accepted up to August 25th, only in the application agencies and centers of IBGE. The selective process will be made by means of an analysis of education degrees. No application fee will be charged.

In order to apply, candidates must go to the application agencies or centers of IBGE in the municipality/area they are willing to work. Addresses are available in the annex V of the competitive examination announcement (

edital). Earnings will be defined by production, based on the quantity of enumerated households. On average, there are 300 households by enumerating area, which can be visited in less than 30 days. Enumerators will also receive the 13th salary and the vacations in the proportion of the worked days and the production earnings.

The selection process will classify candidates by an analysis of degrees and will select enumerators by a test at the end of the training. In the analysis of degrees, candidates can score up to 10 points: 1 for complete elementary school; 3 for incomplete ongoing high school; 5 for complete high school; 7 for incomplete ongoing higher education (graduation); and 10 for complete higher education. Documents to prove each schooling degree are detailed in the competitive examination announcement.

Academic degrees must be issued by institutions accredited by the Ministry of Education, Secretariats or State Councils of Education. Diplomas or certificates relative to graduation courses taken abroad will only be accepted if revalidated by a higher education institution in Brazil. The same diploma or certificate will be considered only once, and the counting of points will not be cumulative. IBGE will only accept certificates which display education institutions that can be identified; all the necessary data for proving authenticity must be detailed on the certificate.

The preliminary result of the analysis of degrees will be available at the application agencies and points of IBGE on August 27th. Requests of revision of the score must be made on the same day. Alterations in grades which may occur after the evaluation of revision petitions will also be available at the application agencies and points of IBGE on August 31st, when the approved candidates will receive information about the training. Results will also be available in IBGE site (

www.ibge.gov.br). Hiring is predicted to September 6th.
