August 07, 2009 09h00 AM | Last Updated: August 23, 2018 03h18 PM

The National Index of Construction (SINAPI), calculated by IBGE in partnership with Caixa Econômica Federal, changed by 0.48% in July, showing acceleration by 0.13 percentage points in relation to June (0.35%). Compared to the result of July 2008, that is, 1.03%, the current index (0.48%) presents significant reduction. In the year, the national index accumulated increase of 4.17%, below the 6.36% observed in the same period of 2008. The result of the last twelve months was 9.43%, also below the 10.03% relative to the last immediately previous twelve months.

The national cost by square meter, which was R$ 701.62 in June, changed to R$ 704.97 in July. From this amount, R$ 405.99 refer to material and R$ 298.98 to manpower.

In the year, material accumulated rise of 2.61%, significantly below the 6.13% observed in the same period in the previous year. Manpower accumulated 6.35% this year, versus 6.67% in the previous one. In twelve months, the results were 10.01% (material) and 8.64% (manpower).

Paraná and Amazonas had major increase

In July, only Paraná (4.04%) and Amazonas (3.19%) had salary readjustments of professional categories in construction costs. The lowest results came from: Mato Grosso ( 0.03%); Rio de Janeiro (0.06%); and Rio Grande do Norte (0.09%).

Acre had the highest rate in the year (8.60%) and in the last twelve months (13.1%).

These results are calculated monthly by IBGE through a partnership with CAIXA - Caixa Econômica Federal, for SINAPI - National System of Costs Survey and Indexes of Construction.

Sinapi, created in 1969, is aimed at producing cost data and indexes at national level in a systematic way, in order to help in the elaboration and evaluation of budgets, monitoring of costs, adequacy of material and the scheduling of investments.

In 2002, the National Congress sanctioned, through the law LDO (Budgetary Directives Law), the use of SINAPI as the reference for the calculation of costs in public construction.
