IBGE holds seminar on the profile of Brazilian municipalities

The event is free and open to the public. Enrollments are accepted on the web site https://www.ibge.gov.br/seminariomunicipalismo until June 12th.

 

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (UBGE) is going to hold, next Monday, June 16th, at 1:30 PM, the seminar Profile of Brazilian Municipalities. The objective of this event is to present the current scenario in Brazilian municipalities through a statistical and historical approach. There will be lectures on such topics as municipal development, metropolitan areas, municipal accords, the origin of municipalities and their roles as locus of public policies, besides the importance of IBGE in the formulation of municipal principles.  

 

The event will take place in the auditorium of the Center for Information Documentation and Dissemination (CDDI), located at 706, General Canabarro Street, Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro/RJ. Besides lectures, there will also be an exhibition of posters in honor of the municipalist and ex-president of IBGE Rafael Xavier and the release of the publication ““O IBGE na história do municipalismo e sua atuação nos municípios: o pensamento de Teixeira de Freitas e Rafael Xavier” (IBGE in the history of municipalism and its influence on municipalities: the thoughts of Teixeira de Freitas and Rafael Xavier”, with previously unseen articles, compilations of texts from the Brazilian Magazine of Municipalities (1948-1968) and documents related to the topic. Persons who have enrolled in the seminar will receive participation certificates and a copy of the book released.
