IPCA–15: October index is 0.24%

The current Extended National Consumer Price Index-15 (IPCA-15) is 0.24%, a figure below the rate of 0.29% obtained in September. The indexes accumulated in the year and in the last 12 months are 3.40% and 4.15%, respectively.

The price of food products and beverages have changed from 0.87%, in September, to 0.54%, in October, and remained as the main responsible for the reduction of the pace of increase of IPCA-15. The item milk and dairy products has faced change of -4.53% of change, with contribution of -0.11 percentage points to the index of the month. Considering the prices of pasteurized milk alone, there has been decrease of 10.20% in relation to September, and its contribution reached -0.14 percentage points. In the year, this product has accumulated rise of 36.94%.

 

Prices of refined sugar (-3.11%), ground coffee (-1.29%) and eggs (-0.57%) have also fallen. Besides that, the rise rate of some products decelerated from September to October: meats (from 1.46% to 0.93%) and rice (from 3.33% to 3.02%).

 

Some products became more expensive, for example: black beans (from 4.76% to 9.09%), “carioca beans” (from 5.25% to 8.41%) and wheat flour (from 1.36% to 2.70%). Fruits, which changed from 0.09%, in September, to 8.78%, in October, were the most relevant item in terms of contribution to the October IPCA-15, with 0.07 percentage points.

 

In terms of non-food products, with rate of 0.16%, the highlights were the decreases of electricity (-0.71%), voluntary car insurance (-3.61%) and gasoline (-0.32%).

Concerning indexes by area, the main highlights are Fortaleza (0.53%) and Goiânia (0.54%). The lowest index is that of Porto Alegre (0.03%).

 


 

IPCA-15 refers to prices collected in the period between September 12 and October 11, compared to those collected between August 14 and September 11.
