IPCA-15 changed by 0.24% in July

The Extended National Consumer Price Index-15 (IPCA-15) changed by 0.24% in July, slightly below the rate of 0.29% registered in June. As a consequence, it accumulated 2.42% in the year and 3.71% in the last 12 months.

 

 

The Extended National Consumer Price Index-15 (IPCA-15) changed by 0.24% in July, slightly below the rate of 0.29% registered in June.  As a consequence, it accumulated 2.42% in the year and 3.71% in the last 12 months.

 

With hike of 1.00% and contribution of 0.21 percentage points, the group Food products and beverages was responsible for 88% of the index of this month, which means, almost the totality of the IPCA-15 of July. The influence came mainly from the item milk products, whose increase reached 9.25%, being the major individual contribution of the month: 0.19 percentage points.  The consumer, due to the lower supply of pasteurized milk, began to pay 14.43% more than in the month of June.  The hike of the product is already 33.57% in the year.  In July, powdered milk was 6.68% more expensive and the prices of cheese increased by 3.75%.

 

The consumer is also paying more for other food products, especially carioca beans, which increased by 10.97% and eggs with increase of 5.35%. The prices of black beans (1.81%), bread rolls (1.54%), soybean oil (1.39%), meats (1.17%) and poultry (1.16%) also increased.

 

Non-food products continued stable, changing only 0.04% from one month to the next.  Electricity fell by 1.19% and brought the most considerable negative contribution of the month (-0.04 percentage points) as well as fuels, which registered decrease of -0.04 percentage points of contribution and reduction of 0.84% in prices.  The result of electricity was caused, mainly, by the tariffs in the metropolitan area of São Paulo, which turned 12.66% cheaper since July 4, resulting in a decrease of 2.90% in the average account of those who live there.  The liter of fuel alcohol turned 8.11% cheaper, with influence on gasoline, which decreased by 0.23%. Other items also decreased, as for example medicines (-0.33%).  Apparel stood out due to the great reduction in the rhythm of growth of prices from June (1.08%) to July (0.17%) as a consequence of the typical promotions of this period of the year.

 

Among the indexes by areas, the major result was observed in Porto Alegre (0.59%), where food products reached a hike of 1.60% and the prices of gasoline increased by 3.76%. São Paulo (0.05%), Fortaleza (0.05%) and Brasília (0.04%) were the metropolitan areas with the lowest results.
