This month, Extended National Consumer Price Index -15 (IPCA-15) has changed by 0.22%. This rate is almost half as the March figure (0.41%). The accumulated rates are 1.62%, in the first four months of the year, and 3.00%, in the last twelve months.

The lower rise of prices of food products was the main cause of the reduction of IPCA-15 from March to April. Whereas food products and beverages reached 1.21% in March, this month the result was 0.39% and the contribution of this subsector fell from 0.25 to 0.08 percentage points. The prices of items such as tomatoes (which changed from 22.05%, in March to 2.10%, in April) onions (from 24.35% to 14.17%), eggs (from 9.19% to 3.97%) and coffee (from 5.28% to 2.44%) have risen, but the rhythm of rise has decreased.  The prices of some products have fallen, for example, of fruits (from 4.58% to -2.08%) and chickens (from 6.05% to-1.22%).

Gasoline, which was a highlight due to its rise in March (1.00%) was stable in April (0.03%). Alcohol, on the other hand, rose from -0.64% to 2.51%. The same happened to apparel, which went from a rate of -0.36%, in March, to 0.43%, in April.

Among the regional indexes, the highest results were those observed in the metropolitan areas of Recife (0.63%) and Belém (0.60%), in which food products have risen significantly, by 1.16% and 1.67%, respectively.
