IPCA-15 changes by 0.41% in March

The National Consumer Price Index -15 (IPCA-15) in March is slightly lower than in February (0.46%) and the index accumulated in the last twelve months is 2.95%. The IPCA-E accumulated in the first quarter of 2007 is 1.40%. Food products are the main contribution to the March index.

 

School fares, which had strongly affected the February rate, were replaced by food products, with rises of prices of important products to diet of Brazilian families. Carrots (35.45%), onions (24.35%), tomatoes (22.05%), eggs (9.19%), manioc flour (6.08%), chicken (6.05%), coffee (5.28%), fruits (4.58%), potatoes (4.46%) and green vegetables (3.91%) are now extremely expensive to consumers. Consequently, the rise of food products and beverages reached 1.2%, with a contribution of 0.25 percentage points to the IPCA-15 of the month. Food products accounted for approximately 60% of the index.  

 

An important highlight was gasoline; the liter of this fuel is now 1.00% more expensive than in the previous month. The price of alcohol, on the other hand, fell by 0.64%.

 

Among the indexes by area, the best results were those of Goiânia (0.74%) and Curitiba (0.75%), whereas the lowest one was obtained in São Paulo (0.24%).
