In October, National Index of Construction changed by 0.22%

The National Index of Construction, calculated by IBGE in partnership with Caixa Econômica Federal, registered change of 0.22% in October, decreasing 0.02 percentage points in relation to September (0.24%). The current index fell by 0.04% in relation to October 2005 (0.26%), accumulating 4.30% in the year and 5.07% in the last 12 months, rates below the ones observed in similar periods of 2005 (respectively 6.19% and 8.49%).

The national cost per square meter changed from R$ 565.21 to R$ 566.47, being R$ 327.76 relative to material and R$ 238.71 relative to labor force. Material changed by 0.40%, 0.15 percentage points above the index of September (0.25%). Labor force continued almost stable changing –0.02%.

In the year, material increased by 3.30% and labor force, 5.70%. In the last 12 months, the following changes were observed: 3.94% (material) and 6.67% (labor force).

North and Northeast stood out

With results higher than the Central West (0.28%), South (0.15%) and Southeast (0.13%), the North (0.37%) and Northeast Regions (0.35%) stood out presenting similar percentages.

Regarding the highest accumulated rates, the Northeast stood out in the year (5.33%) and in 12 months (6.48%). The lowest results in these periods occurred in the South (3.61% and 3.98%, respectively).
The regional costs were R$ 603.48 (Southeast); R$ 567.22 (South); R$ 551.83 (North); R$ 539.89 (Central West) and R$ 524.26 (Northeast).

Some states were almost stable

In October, there were not observed wage readjustments, and some results were almost stable: Paraná (0.02%), São Paulo (0.05%) and Santa Catarina (0.08%).

The highest changes occurred in Pernambuco (0.54%), Maranhão (0.51%) and Pará (0.47%).

Sergipe continues to record the highest accumulated result in the year (8.59%). In 12 months, the highest accumulated result was observed in Piauí (8.99%).
