National index of construction changed by 0.26%

The National Index of Construction, calculated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL changed by 0.26% in November, the same figure as in October.
The National Index of Construction, calculated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL changed by 0.26% in November, the same figure as in October. The index accumulated in the year was 6.46% and in the last 12 months, 7.61%. The national cost by square meter increased to R$ 540.51, being R$ 316.59 relative to construction material and R$223.92 to manpower.
In comparison with November 2004 (1.07%), there was decrease by 0.81 percentage points. The indexes accumulated in the year and in the last 12 months were also below the rates observed in the same period last year (9.75% and 10.16%).
Construction material rose 0.40% and was 0.07 percentage points above the October index (0.33%). On the other hand, manpower changed 0.06%, versus 0.15% in October (less than 0.09 percentage points).
In the year, material rose 6.15%, a figure extremely lower than registered in the same period in 2004. Concerning manpower, the accumulated index was 6.91%, versus 6.15% in 2004. In the last 12 months, the following changes were observed: 7.53% (material) and 7.73% (manpower).
North and Northeast regions were the highlights in November
The North and Northeast regions were the highlights in November, with practically identical figures for monthly change (0.43% and 0.42%, respectively). In the South the figure was 0.27%. The results in the Central West (0.15%) and in the Southeast (0.14%) were also very similar.
The highest rates accumulated in the year and in the last 12 months were those of the North region ( 8.78% and 9.77%, respectively). The lowest results in the same period occurred in the Central West (5.88% and 6.80%).
The costs by region were: R$ 578.04 (Southeast); R$ 546.98 (South); R$ 523.06 (North); R$ 516.25 (Central-West) and R$ 494.45 (Northeast).
Among the states, Rio Grande do Norte had the highest rate
As a consequence of the readjustment in manpower, Rio Grande do Norte presented, in November, the highest index (2.06%). Lower rates were calculated for Roraima (0.90%), Amazonas (0.86%) and Alagoas (0.72%).
The lowest rates were: 0.04%, in Espírito Santo and in Santa Catarina; 0.05% in Brasília; 0.07% in Sergipe and 0.08% in Tocantins.
