National Index of Construction was 0.68% in June

The National Index of Construction, measured by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, changed by 0.68% in June, a decline of 0.79 percentage point over May (1.47%). Similarly to the previous month, salary readjustments in some states contributed to a great extent to the results for the index. The figure accumulated in the year is 4.86% and in the last twelve months, 10.86%. The national cost by square meter is now R$ 532.39, being R$ 310.66 related to material and R$ 221.73 to man power.
In comparison with June 2004 (0.74%), the current index was 0.06 percentage point lower.
Both material and man power showed deceleration in relation to May. Man power, due to salary readjustments, presented higher rates than material. The latter changed from 0.77% to 0.25% in June (0.52 percentage point), whereas man power fell from 2.48% to 1.29% (1.19 percentage point).
In the year, the accumulated index for material is 4.16%, and in the last twelve months, 12.56%. For man power, 5.87% and 8.57%, respectively.
Highest index (1.65%) measured in the South region
The South region was the highlight in June, with an increase of 1.65% influenced by collective agreements in Paraná. In the North region (1.11%), the results were influenced by salary readjustments in Rondônia.
The remaining regional results, all below the national index (0.68%), were, in decreasing order, 0.65% in the Northeast; 0.36% in the Southeast and 0.29% in the Central West region.
Concerning the indexes accumulated in the year, the North region had the highest rate (5.54%), follwed by the South region (5.01%). The other figures were Southeast (4.95%), Northeast (4.63%) and Central West region (4.23%).
In the last twelve months, considering the highest indexes, the top regions were Northest (11.95%) and South (11.43%). The remaining results were 10.51% in the Southeast; 10.13% in the North and 9.37 % in the Central West region.
The costs by region were: R$ 572.26 (Southeast); R$ 538.76 (South); R$ 508.22 (Centro-Oeste); R$ 507.48 (North) and R$ 485.22 (Northeast).
Salary readjustments influenced indexes in some states
Some national indexes were higher due to readjustments in man power: 4.16% in Rondônia; 3.38% in Paraná; 2.61% in Espírito Santo and 2.50% in Alagoas.
The best results in the month were those of Mato Grosso (0.06%), Paraíba (0.10%) and Rio de Janeiro (0.12%).
Amapá presented the highest index in the year (10.28%) and in the last twelve months (15.03%).
