The National Civil Construction Index registered a change of 0.74% in October

The National Civil Construction Index, calculated by the IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, changed 0.74% in October, registering 0.05 percentage point above September’s result (0.69%). Compared with October 2003 (0.60%), the current result was higher by 0.14 percentage point.
The year’s accrued rate reached 8.60% and, for the last twelve months, 10.20%, lower than those registered in the same periods of 2003 (12.65% and 18.08%).
The national cost per square meter remained at R$ 496.94, with R$ 290.27 being related to materials and R$ 206.67 to labor.
The share of materials registered an acceleration of 0.15 percentage point, passing from 1.04% (September) to 1.19% (October).
On the other hand, labor retracted by 0.09 percentage point, registering at 0.11% in October compared to 0.20% in September.
The indexes accrued in the year and the last twelve months were:
In the year: materials with 10.88% and labor 5.55%;
In twelve months: 11.93% and 7.86%, respectively.
North Region registered the highest monthly index
The North had the greatest regional index (1.13%), pressured by wage readjustments that took place in Roraima and Tocantins. The Northeast (0.97%) and South (0.85%) also registered above the national average (0.74%). The Southeast (0.57%) and Midwest (0.37%) registered below.
In the year, the greatest accrued rate was registered by the Midwest Region (9.10%) and the Northeast registered the greatest rate for the last twelve months (11.20%).
The North region registered the lowest accrued rates in the year and the last twelve months, 6.96% and 8.58%, respectively.
The regional costs were of: R$ 533.97 (Southeast); R$ 505.16 (South); R$ 480.78 (Midwest); R$ 473.35 (North) and R$ 449.82 (Northeast).
Roraima and Tocantins had the highest indexes among the states
The construction cost increased 3.01% in Roraima and 1.94% in Tocantins due to wage readjustments in the professional categories. The lowest index (0.19%) was registered in Mato Grosso.
Sergipe had the highest accrued rate in the year (11.76%) and Minas Gerais, in twelve months (14.80%).
