In regard to the story published by "O Globo" newspaper on January 14, 2004 on the 2003 Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in which the Ministry of Planning would have received from IBGE an early version of the result to be released next February 27, IBGE clarifies the general public, the users and the press that it does not produce any partial or early version of the Quarterly GDP.

According to international practices adopted by National Statistical Offices, the release of short-term economic surveys (IPCA and INPC, PME, PIM, PMC, LSPA, SINAPI and the Quarterly National Accounts) is ruled by Ordinances no. 164, from December 20, 1999, published in the Official Gazette no. 243, from December 21, 1999, and no. 167, from September 3, 2003, published in the Official Gazette no. 173, from September 8, 2003, which establish release time and precedence for authorities.

IBGE publishes the release schedule of all of its short-term surveys at the beginning of each year. The schedule can be found on the webpage of IBGE: www.ibge.gov.br.
