The number of salaried employed persons in companies and other organizations covered by  the IBGE’s Central Registry of Enterprises (CEMPRE) fell by 3.1% (1.7 million persons) between 20-14 and 2015, the first decrease of this variable in the series initiated in 2007.

The number of partners and owners, which had fallen in 2014, remained practically stable, with a decline of 0.1% (-7.7 thousand persons). Total wages and other compensation fell by 4.8% and the average wage, by 3.2%, ion real terms. The number of companies and other organizations was the only variable which did not record decrease and remained almost unchanged at 5.1 million. There was a slight increase of 0.2%, or 11.6 thousand companies more than in 2014, when the series recorded a decrease for the first time (-5.4%).

In spite of the minus 1.7 million salaried jobs between 2014 and 2015, 3.6 million new connections were generated in companies and other formal organizations from 2010 to 2015. Four groups of activity accounted for 71.7% of this total: 29.4% in trade; repair of motor vehicles and of motorcycles, 15.0% in human health and social services, 14.1% in administrative activities and complementary services and 13.1% in education.

In regional terms, the Southeast concentrated 51.1% (2.9 million) of the local units, 50.2% of the employed persons (26.9 million), 49.8% of the salaried persons (23.2 million) and 54.4% (R$ 840.3 billion) of the salaried and other compensation. This is the first time in the series that the Southeast region records less that 50% participation in salaried employed persons.

All that and more can be found in the IBGE’s Central Registry of Enterprises (CEMPRE), which presents registry and economic data of companies and other organizations (general government and non-profit entities) formally constituted in the country and their respective local units (business addresses).
