National Index of Civil Construction changes by 0.26% in September

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), calculated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, changed by 0.26% in September, being 0.44 percentage points below August's rate (0.70%). The cumulative index of January-September was 4.86%. In the last twelve months, the rate was 6.07%, above the 5.96% registered in the previous twelve-month period. The national cost of construction per square meter, which, in July, closed at R$ 948.47, changed to R$ 955.12, in August, R$ 510.89 relative to materials and R$ 444.23 to labor force.
The share relative to materials registered a change of 0.21%, dropping 0.32 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.53%). Labor force registered a change of 1.28% and stood 0.41 percentage points above July (0.87%). The cumulative figures are: 2.73% (material) and 6.80% (labor force), whereas in twelve months, they were: 3.84% (material) and 8.48% (labor force), respectively.
South Region registered the highest change in August
With a change of 2.50%, the South Region recorded the biggest change in August. The other figures were: 0.94% (North), 0.09% (Northeast), 0.17% (Southeast) and 2.18% (Central-West Region).
Regional costs, by square meter, were: R$ 958.81 (North); R$ 879.34 (Northeast), R$ 1,000.64 (Southeast); R$ 992.51 (South) and R$ 971.10 (Central-West Region).
Paraná was the state with the highest monthly change
Due to the pressure from salary increases following a collective work agreement, Paraná registered the highest monthly change: 4.17%. Next, came Goiás, 3.91%; Amazonas, 3.21%; and Mato Grosso, 3.20%, also due to the impact of salary increases.
These results are monthly estimated by IBGE through a partnership with CAIXA - Caixa Econômica Federal, based on SINAPI - National System of Survey of Costs and Indexes of Civil Construction.
SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and evaluate budgets as well as monitor costs.
