The IBGE launches today, December 6, 2016, at 11am, during the 3rd National Conference of Producers and Users of Statistical, Geographic and Environmental Information - INFOPLAN, the new version of SIDRA (IBGE´s Automatic Recovery System), a digital tool which can be accessed through any Web browser to easily and quickly query data from studies and surveys carried out by the Institute. The new interface provides a friendly access in any platform: mobile phones, tablets and computers. The interaction is quite visual and intuitive, allowing easy access to information and features.

The SIDRA´s website is found in the following address: The application also provides an API (Application Program Interface), which allows to extract the data using Web applications and programs. The API is found at

SIDRA queries information from all short-term economic indicators – like those of labor and income, inflation, industry, trade, services, agriculture and GDP – as well as from their time series. It also accesses the results of nearly all the IBGE´s structural surveys, including the Population Census, National Household Sample Survey - PNAD, Consumer Expenditure Survey - POF, National Survey of Health - PNS and annual economic surveys.

The first version of SIDRA on the Web was released in 1997 and its latest format was adopted in 2001. In 2016, SIDRA received 927 thousand hits up to the end of November.

The archive of the new system has 5,200 tables from 55 surveys – short-term, structural and censuses, among active and discontinued ones – with 850 billion values available for query. The data may be crossed up to six levels – like situation, sex, age and schooling – for the periods (time series) and territorial cuttings – like states, municipalities and districts – available for each survey.
