With a rise in material, construction prices change 0.23% in February

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi) changed 0.23% in February. The rate is 0.28 percentage points (p.p.) lower than the index registered in January (0.51%). The cumulative index in the last 12 months stayed at 4.39%, above the rate of 4.31% registered in the immediately previous 12 months. The data were released today (12) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The national cost of construction per square meter changed from R$1,799.82 in January to R$1,803.90 in February, being R$1,039.82 relative to material and R$764.08, to workforce.
The share of material changed 0.29%, increasing 0.11 percentage points in relation to January (0.18%) and 0.14 against February 2024 (0.15%). The share of workforce, without any collective agreement in the period, registered a rate of 0.14%, a drop of 0.83 percentage points in relation to January (0.97%). It slightly increased 0.01 percentage points in relation to February 2024 (0.13%).
"The change of 0.23% in February, below that registered in the first month of the year, is due to a smaller share of workforce, which significantly decelerated in relation to the previous month, standing 0.83 percentage points below the January´s rate. Unlike the share of workforce, the share of material (0.20%) slightly accelerated, standing 0.11 percentage points above the January´s rate," explained, Augusto Oliveira, Manager of the survey.
Southeast Region records the highest monthly change in February
Having risen in all its states, the Southeast Region changed 0.31%, the highest regional change in February. The other regions reported the following results: 0.25% (North), 0.13% (Northeast), 0.24% (South) and 0.16% (Central-West).
Rio Grande do Norte registers the highest rise in February
With a rise in the share of material, Rio Grande do Norte was the state that recorded the highest rate in February (0.63%).
